William I Penny, Profile right type, London, Ealdgar, ex Seltman and Grantley cross pattee and legend surroundingWilliam I (1066 87), silver profile Penny, type I (c. 1066 68?), London Mint, Moneyer Ealdgar, crowned bust left with sceptre, extending to bottom of coin, Latin legend commences at lower left with outer beaded circle surrounding both sides, +PILLELMVS REXI, rev. annulet at centre of cross fleury, +EIILDGAR OII LVII, weight 1. 25g (N. 839; S. 1250). Toned, a little weak in parts both sides, otherwise a bold very fine.
