H313 Interi Research by the Smithsonian has18th century Italian meca pom pom tassel on a coordinating chalcopyrite mineral base. This tassel was originally hung from an 18th century Italian chandelier. Many tassels were used to decorate churches on religious feast days. Others were commonly used to decorate 18 19th century French and Italian chandeliers. The hand carved, gold leaf tassel was then mounted onto chalcopyrite. The historical piece is put together in a contemporary sculptural form
